Rod Thomas: GPB Auto Complaint Against Former SCF Securities Advisor

Boca Raton financial advisory Rod Thomas (CRD# 4010563) recommended an unsuitable investment in GPB Automotive, according to a recent investor complaint against him. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and investment advisor with Newbridge Securities and Newbridge Financial Services, doing business as Shield Capital Advisory. 

Mr. Thomas’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in 2021, alleged that as a representative of SCF Securities, he made misrepresentations of material facts, breached his fiduciary duty, and recommended an unsuitable purchase of GPB Automotive Portfolio. In 2022 the complaint reached a settlement of $25,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in 2010, detailed allegations regarding an investment in collateralized mortgage obligations. In 2011 the complaint reached a settlement of $36,902.35.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Rod Thomas holds 22 years of securities industry experience. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, he has been a broker and investment advisor with Newbridge Securities and Newbridge Financial Services since 2018, doing business as Shield Capital Advisory. His past registrations include Kovack Advisors (Livingston, New Jersey; 2018), SCF Securities (Livingston, New Jersey; 2016-2018), National Securities Corporation (Edison, New Jersey; 2010-2016), Ameriprise Financial Services (New York, New York; 2009-2010), Ameriprise Advisor Services (New York, New York; 2003-2009), and Morgan Stanley DW (Purchase, New York; 1999-2002). His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying examinations: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. (Information current as of August 10, 2022.)
