Emilio Vasquez: $100K Complaint Against Coconut Grove Advisor

Infinex Investments financial advisor Emilio Vasquez (CRD# 3222414) has received multiple investor complaints alleging his investment advice resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor based in Coconut Grove, Florida.

Mr. Vasquez’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in April 2022, alleges breach of agreements and false representations in connection with a fixed annuity investment. The pending complaint alleges damages between $100,000 and $500,000. In a comment on the disclosure, Mr. Vasquez asserts that the investment “was suitable and appropriate when the client invested the fund,” and states that he was no longer the representative of record when “the activity causing the loss” took place.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleges that as a representative of Infinex Investments, he recommended an unsuitable non-traded real estate investment trust (REIT). In 2021 the complaint reached a settlement of $77,500. A statement on the disclosure notes that “the registered representative[‘]s position is that the investment in question was suitable, the pros and cons were disclosed properly, and the investment was agreed upon by the client’s leadership team.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Emilio Vasquez holds 22 years of securities industry experience. Based in Coconut Grove, Florida, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Infinex Investments since 2006. He was previously registered with Citicorp Investment Services from 1999 until 2005. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Principal Examination, or Series 24; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in Florida and New York. (Information current as of September 3, 2022.)
