A recent investor complaint against Farmington Hills, Michigan financial advisor Aubrey Lee (CRD# 1685532) alleges that a variable annuity investment resulted in six-figure damages. Records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority indicate that he is a broker and an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Lee’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in January 2023, alleges that as a representative of Merrill Lynch, he made unsuitable investment recommendations involving a variable annuity. The pending complaint alleges damages of $175,000.
An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2005, similarly alleged that he recommended unsuitable investments while at Merrill Lynch. The complaint alleged damages of $6,000 and was denied by the firm.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Aubrey Lee holds 35 years of securities industry experience. Based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch since 1987 and 1997, respectively. He has no prior registrations. His credentials include the passage of seven securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Sales Supervisor – Options Module Examination, or Series 9; the General Securities Sales Supervisor – General Module Examination, or Series 10; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
