Jason Holowinski: Janney Montgomery Scott Denies 6-Figure Complaints

Recent investor complaints against Syracuse financial advisor Jason Holowinski (CRD# 2390903) alleged that he made unsuitable investment recommendations. Records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority show that he is a broker and an investment advisor with Janney Montgomery Scott.

Mr. Holowinski’s BrokerCheck report discloses five investor complaints, all filed in February or March 2023. The complaints detail various forms of misconduct, including the execution of trades against the customer’s instructions, breach of fiduciary duty, over-concentration and lack of diversification, and unsuitable investment recommendations while he was at Janney Montgomery Scott.

One complaint alleged damages of $166,000; another, $65,931; a third, $604,277; a fourth, $256,598; and the fifth, $189,269. All five complaints were denied by Janney Montgomery Scott, with identical comments attached to each that state: “Firm review determined that there was no evidence supporting the claim.” When a complaint is denied by the firm that receives it, for reference, this denial does not necessarily mean the allegations were meritless. Investors can still pursue recovery through other actions, like FINRA arbitration claims.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Jason Holowinski holds 28 years of securities industry experience. Based in Syracuse, New York, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Janney Montgomery Scott since 2008. His past registrations include AG Edwards & Sons (Dewitt, New York; 1994-2008), Painewebber (Weehawken, New Jersey; 1994), and First Investors Corporation (Edison, New Jersey; 1993). His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination, or Series 31; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He currently holds 34 state licenses. (Information current as of April 1, 2023.)
