Sterling Hirsch: GWG Complaint Against Sterling First Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Yucaipa, California financial advisor Sterling Hirsch (CRD# 4867105) alleges misconduct connected to a GWG L bond investment. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is currently a broker and an investment advisor with Infinity Financial Services, doing business as Sterling First Financial.

Mr. Hirsch’s BrokerCheck report discloses one recent investor complaint. Filed in March 2023, it alleges that as a representative of Infinity Financial Services, he engaged in improper sales practices connected to the sale of GWG L bond investments. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

A second disclosure on Mr. Hirsch’s BrokerCheck report describes a regulatory investigation into his conduct. Initiated in February 2021, the investigation by the California Department of Insurance concerns “possible violation of law.” No further information is provided in the disclosure.

In October 2018, Mr. Hirsch was discharged from his position at First Allied Securities. A disclosure on his BrokerCheck report states that the firm fired him in connection with allegations he “failed to follow firm policy by not disclosing a loan from a client.” In a comment included with the disclosure, he states that the loan originated from someone who wasn’t a client and who became a client the following year. “The loan was fully disclosed during a branch audit and the loan is in good standing,” he added.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Sterling Hirsch holds 16 years of securities industry experience. Based in Yucaipa and Palm Desert, California, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Infinity Financial Services since 2020, doing business as Sterling First Financial. His registration history includes First Allied Securities (Yucaipa, California; 2013-2018), Center Street Securities (Palm Springs, California; 2010-2013), Brookstone Capital Management (Palm Springs, California; 2010-2013), and World Group Securities (Orange, California; 2005-2008). His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. He is licensed in California, Georgia, North Carolina, and Ohio. (Information current as of April 17, 2023.)
