Lincoln Financial Advisor Andrew Horowitz: Atlas Growth Complaint

Hunt Valley, Maryland financial advisor Andrew Horowitz (CRD# 2917830) allegedly recommended an unsuitable investment in Atlas Growth Partners, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor with Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation.

Mr. Horowitz’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in May 2023, it alleges that as a representative of Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation, he recommended an unsuitable investment in Atlas Growth Partners, an oil and gas limited partnership. The pending complaint alleges damages of $50,000.

In a statement included with the pending complaint’s disclosure, Mr. Horowitz pushed back against the allegations. “AGP was one partnership we offered to this client among several other investments,” he wrote. “AGP represented a very small and appropriate percentage of the client’s overall investment portfolio. The oil markets unexpectedly imploded after the investment and did not recover for several years. This unfortunate timing led to AGP’s disappointing performance.” He concluded his statement by commenting that the firm diversifies its customers portfolios “investments so that if one investment does not perform as anticipated, the portfolio as as whole still performs,” and that this was the case with the account in question.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Andrew Horowitz holds 21 years of securities industry experience. Based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, he has been a broker and an investment advisor with Lincoln Financial Advisors Corporation since 2005 and 2006, respectively. His past registrations include the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company (Lutherville, Maryland; 2005-2006), M&T Securities (Baltimore, Maryland; 2003-2005), MetLife Securities (Springfield, Massachusetts; 2002-2003), and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (New York, New York; 2002-2003). His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
