Mike Dietrich: Suitability Complaint Against Morgan Stanley Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Palm Harbor, Florida financial advisor Mike Dietrich (CRD# 2711093) alleges that he provided unsuitable investment advice. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and an investment advisor registered with Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Dietrich’s BrokerCheck report discloses three investor complaints. The most recent, filed in October 2023, alleges that as a representative of Morgan Stanley, he recommended unsuitable investments in the customer’s accounts between 2022 and 2023. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2008, alleged that as a Morgan Stanley representative, he recommended an unsuitable reverse convertible bond. In 2009 the complaint reached a settlement of $5,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2004, alleged that as a Morgan Stanley DW representative, he made unsuitable investment recommendations and misrepresented material facts in connection with stock investments. In 2005 the complaint reached a settlement of $90,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Mike Dietrich holds 27 years of securities industry experience. Based in Palm Harbor, Florida, he has been a broker and an investment advisor registered with Morgan Stanley since 2009. His past registrations include Morgan Stanley & Company (Clearwater, Florida; 2007-2009), Morgan Stanley DW (Clearwater, Florida; 1998-2007), RM Stark & Company (Lake Worth Beach, Florida; 1997-1998), and Investors Associates (Hackensack, New Jersey; 1996-1997). His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Futures Managed Funds Examination,  or Series 31; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE;  the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
