Thomas Geissler: $1mm-$5mm Complaint Against Ameritas Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Toledo, Ohio financial advisor Thomas Geissler (CRD# 2962412) alleges that his conduct resulted in seven-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is currently registered as a broker with Ameritas Investment Company and an advisor with Ameritas Advisory Services. He is also a representative of Premier Planning Group.

Mr. Geissler’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in January 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Ameritas Investment Company, he recommended “unsuitable and high risk fixed annuities.” The pending complaint alleges damages between $1 million and $5 million.

Premier Planning Group’s website includes a description of the company’s mission. “Our mission is to get to know and understand your needs, wants, and long-term goals,” it states. “We believe in thinking ‘out of the box’ and we are not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom in our approach to investing and preserving wealth. All of our energy, commitment, and efforts are focused on you, the client, and your satisfaction.” Elsewhere, the website notes that the firm provides investments, financial planning, and insurance services. “Our firm focuses on helping individuals develop sound retirement strategies,” it explains. “We understand the many challenges of retirement today and know the biggest concern for many is outliving their money. We focus on money management, as well as other issues that are critical to your financial well being.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Thomas Geissler holds 23 years of securities industry experience. Based in Toledo, Ohio, he has been registered as a broker with Ameritas Investment Company since 2007 and an advisor with Ameritas Advisory Services since 2021. His past registrations include Fifth Third Securities (Cincinnati, Ohio; 2002-2005), Merrill Lynch (Toledo, Ohio and New York, New York; 1999-2002), Countrywide Investments (Cincinnati, Ohio; 1998-1999), and Fidelity Brokerage Services (Smithfield, Rhode Island; 1998). His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
