Former Alexandria, Virginia financial advisor Paul Trimber (CRD# 2765260) has been sanctioned and barred in connection with allegations that he executed unauthorized transfers of client funds. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he was most recently registered as a broker with Wells Fargo Clearing Services.
A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (No. 2024081427901) published in March 2024 describes FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Trimber. According to the Letter, FINRA sent him a request to produce information and documents connected with its investigation into whether he “converted a senior customer’s funds for his personal use and benefit.” It sent the request on March 12, 2024, seeking a response by 26, 2024. On March 14, according to the Letter, Mr. Trimber indicated through counsel that he had received the request and would refuse to comply with it.
As FINRA explains, his refusal violated FINRA Rule 8210, which empowers FINRA to make such requests and prohibits persons under FINRA’s jurisdiction from refusing to comply with such. The Letter also notes that violations of FINRA Rule 8210 are violations of FINRA Rule 2010, which stipulates that persons associated with FINRA must “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade” as they conduct securities business. In connection with these findings, FINRA barred Mr. Trimber from associating with any FINRA member in all capacities.
Mr. Trimber’s BrokerCheck report discloses his firing from Wells Fargo Clearing Services. Filed in February 2024, it states that the firm terminated him in connection with allegations that he “admitted during review to making unauthorized transfers of client funds to recipients outside of the Firm.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Paul Trimber holds 27 years of securities industry experience. Most recently based in Alexandria, Virginia, he was registered with Wells Fargo Clearing Services from 2003 until 2024. He was previously registered with Prudential Securities in New York, New York from 1996 until 2003. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is no longer registered as a broker or an investment advisor. (Information current as of March 24, 2024.)
