Steve Van Metre: Atlas Advisor Faces $500K ETF Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Winter Garden, Florida financial advisor Steve Van Metre (CRD# 4994543) alleges that his advice resulted in six-figure damages. Securities and Exchange Commission records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Atlas Financial Advisors.

Mr. Van Metre’s Investment Adviser Public Disclosure form discloses one investor complaint. Filed in June 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Atlas Financial Advisors, he recommended unsuitable investments, including exchange-traded funds. The pending complaint alleges damages of $500,000.

Atlas Financial Advisors’ website includes a profile of Mr. Van Metre that describes his background and experience. “Steve has been with Atlas Financial Advisors, Inc. since its founding, better streamlining operations, and financial planning,” it explains. “Steven has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including the design and management of macro strategies.” Elsewhere, the firm describes its own commitment to its customers. “We are dedicated to helping you achieve your investment goals by providing personal attention and quality services,” it states. “We provide cost-efficient portfolio construction, comprehensive wealth management, and ongoing discussions to earn your confidence and help you achieve your goals.”

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Steve Van Metre holds 16 years of securities industry experience. Based in Winter Garden, Florida, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Atlas Financial Advisors since 2012. His past registrations include Pacific Financial Strategies (Thousand Oaks, California; 2010-2012), BrokersXpress (Bakersfield, California; 2008), and Capital Financial Services (Bakersfield, California; 2006-2008). His credentials include the passage of the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65. He is licensed in California, Florida, Indiana, and Texas.
