Shaun Orcinolo: Morgan Stanley Advisor Lands $2mm Complaint

Fort Lauderdale, Florida financial advisor Shaun Orcinolo (CRD# 2433357) recommended unsuitable annuities, according to a recent investor complaint. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Orcinolo’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in October 2024, alleges that as a representative of Morgan Stanley, he recommended variable annuities that were not in the customer’s best interest. The pending investor complaint alleges damages of $2 million.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2003, alleged that as a Citigroup representative, he recommended unsuitable mutual fund investments. The complaint reached a settlement of $9,729.11.

Morgan Stanley’s website includes a profile of Mr. Orcinolo that describes him as a founding partner of The New River Wealth Management Group, a practice within the firm. “Shaun helps families develop a customized family wealth management plan utilizing values-based wealth planning strategies, which takes into consideration his client’s long term financial objectives; the human capital of their family; philanthropic aspirations; and legacy planning needs,” it explains. “With 30 years of experience, Shaun spends an incredible amount of time working with families to understand their appropriate asset allocation, specific investment goals, cash flow needs, and succession planning strategies.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Shaun Orcinolo holds 30 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley since 2011. His past registrations include UBS Financial Services, Citigroup Global Markets, PFS Investments, and Investors Associates. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
