Kurt Stahl: $1.75 Million Complaint Against Gulf Coast Advisor

Lakewood Ranch, Florida financial advisor Kurt Stahl (CRD# 1890827) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in seven-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission records show that the former Berthel Fisher & Company broker is registered as an investment advisor with AE Wealth Management. He is also the president of Gulf Coast Financial Planning.

Mr. Stahl’s BrokerCheck report discloses several investor complaints. The most recent, filed in November 2024, alleges that as a representative of AE Wealth Management, he breached his fiduciary duty, acted negligently, made misrepresentations and omissions of material facts, breached contract, and violated the Florida Securities and Investor Protection Act. The pending complaint alleges damages of $1.75 million.

A second investor complaint, filed in 2020, alleged that as a Berthel Fisher & Company representative, he misrepresented annuity investments that did not meet the customers’ financial goals. In 2020 the complaint reached a settlement of $20,000.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Kurt Stahl holds 11 years of securities industry experience. Based in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, he has been registered as an investment advisor with AE Wealth Management since 2017. His registration history includes Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, Smith Barney Harris Upham & Company, and Drexel Burnham Lambert. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the National Commodity Futures Examination, or Series 3; and the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE.
