Aventura, Florida financial advisor Claudia Leite (CRD# 5250258) recently received an investor complaint alleging that her advice resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that she is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley, having previously been registered with Itau International Securities.
Ms. Leite’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in March 2025, it alleges that as a representative of Morgan Stanley, she recommended a foreign corporate bond that did not meet the customer’s stated objectives and is now in bankruptcy. The pending complaint alleges damages of $150,000.
FINRA rules require brokers like Ms. Leite to recommend only investments and strategies that conform to a standard referred to as suitability. As stipulated by FINRA Rule 2111, this standard holds that brokers must “have a reasonable basis to believe that a recommended transaction or investment strategy” is appropriate for a client’s profile, which includes their age, investment background, net worth, risk tolerance, and other concerns. An investment that lacks principal protection, for example, could be considered unsuitable for conservative investors who have a low risk tolerance. Brokers who recommend their customers invest in unsuitable products or strategies may be held liable in the event of losses.
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Claudia Leite holds 17 years of securities industry experience. Based in Aventura, Florida, she has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley since 2016 and 2019, respectively. Her registration history includes Itau International Securities (Miami, Florida; 2012-2016) and HSBC Securities (Coral Gables, Florida; 2007-2012). Her credentials include the passage of six securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63.
