Daniel Loy: Suitability Complaint Against LTK Wealth Advisor

Milpitas, California financial advisor Daniel Loy (CRD# 3029654) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Independent Financial Group, doing business as LTK Wealth Management.

Mr. Loy’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in February 2025, alleges that as a representative of Voya Financial Advisors, he misrepresented an unsuitable alternative investment “as riskless” and stated that “it would provide guaranteed income.” The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in 2022, similarly alleged that as a representative of Voya Financial Advisors, he misrepresented and recommended unsuitable alternative investments in real estate products. In 2023 the complaint reached a settlement of $370,000.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2021, alleged that as a Voya representative, he misled the customer and recommended unsuitable investments “in various illiquid alternative” products. The complaint reached a settlement of $75,000.

LTK Wealth Management’s website includes a profile of Mr. Loy that describes his background experience. “He began his financial-services career as a staff accountant with a CPA firm in Silicon Valley and later worked in mortgage origination,” it explains. “He was also a personal banker and investment consultant for Citibank Financial Services for eight years.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Daniel Loy holds 26 years of securities industry experience. Based in Milpitas, California, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Independent Financial Group since 2015, doing business as LTK Wealth Management. His past registrations include Voya Financial Advisors, MetLife Securities, MONY Securities, and Citicorp Investment Services. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63. He is licensed in Arizona, California, Illinois, Texas, and Utah. (Information current as of April 12, 2025.)
