David Strunc: Sunrise Wealth Advisor Lands $100K Complaint

Orlando, Florida financial advisor David Strunc (CRD# 4766050) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Cetera, doing business as Sunrise Wealth Advisors.

Mr. Strunc’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in January 2025, it alleges that he acted negligently, breached his fiduciary duty, breached contract, and violated Regulation Best Interest in connection with stock and unit investment trust products. The pending complaint alleges damages of $100,000.

Sunrise Wealth Advisors’ website includes a profile of Mr. Strunc that describes his background and services as a founding partner at the firm. “David’s current practice at Sunrise focuses on Financial and Estate Planning; this includes Retirement, Investments, Insurance and other financial services. His specialization is centered around the Florida Retirement System (DROP) plan,” it explains. “David assumes many roles to accommodate the DROP Program, including titles as a rollover specialist, small business planning specialist, retirement income, and estate and risk management.”

Elsewhere on the website, the firm describes its philosophy, values, and mission to offer independent and objective advice to its customers. “We believe the client’s best interest should always come first and never be compromised,” it explains. “We also believe that every person should have access to progressive financial education and guidance.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, David Strunc holds 20 years of securities industry experience. Based in Orlando, Florida, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Cetera since 2012, doing business as Sunrise Wealth Advisors. His past registrations include Woodbury Financial Services, Ameriprise Financial Services, and IDS Life Insurance Company. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6TO; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66; and the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7. He is licensed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
