GWG Holdings is a Dallas-based financial services firm that reportedly raised more than $1 billion from investors, including retail investors, “GWG L bonds.” As news reports indicate, these products were entities that used investor funds to buy life insurance policies on the secondary market, purportedly intending to repay investors when the policy holders passed away. The firm entered bankruptcy in 2022 after undergoing financial difficulties and receiving scrutiny from the SEC, with the regulator’s investigation leading to charges against broker-dealer firm Western International Securities. If your advisor unsuitably recommended investments in GWG L bonds or preferred stock, you may be able to seek damages. More information about these products is available here.
