A recent investor complaint against Crystal Lake, Illinois financial advisor Erik Olson (CRD# 4794857) alleges that his advice resulted in six-figure damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Arete Wealth.
Mr. Olson’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in June 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Arete Wealth Management, he recommended an unsuitable alternative investment. The pending complaint alleges damages of $104,832.47.
Arete Wealth’s website includes a profile of Mr. Olson that describes his background and experience. “In 2010, Erik moved to Arete, which offered the opportunity to serve high net worth clients with greater flexibility, better service, more sophisticated solutions, and free of the potential conflicts of interest inherent in a publicly traded product manufacturer,” it states. “In addition to continuing to serve these clients, Erik has developed advanced proprietary multi-market portfolio designs and strategies intended to help clients protect and grow their wealth even in highly challenging market environments.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Erik Olson holds 19 years of securities industry experience. Based in Crystal Lake, Illinois, he has been registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Arete Wealth since 2010. His past registrations include Ameriprise Financial Services (Downers Grove, Illinois; 2004-2010) and IDS Life Insurance Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota; 2004-2006). His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Investment Banking Registered Representative Examination, or Series 79TO; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66.
