Jennifer Basey: $75K Complaint Against Stifel Nicolaus Advisor

A recent investor complaint against Fort Myers financial advisor Jennifer Basey (CRD# 4730054) alleges that her advice resulted in losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that the Stifel Nicolaus & Company broker and investment advisor has been sanctioned by FINRA in connection with alleged rule violations.

Ms. Basey’s BrokerCheck report discloses several investor complaints. The most recent, filed in September 2023, alleges that as a representative of Stifel Nicolaus & Company, she “made assurances that investments were safe, which resulted in losses.” The pending investor complaint alleges damages of $75,000.

A second investor complaint, filed in 2013, alleged that as an Edward Jones representative, she made misrepresentations and omissions regarding a mutual fund investment. The complaint reached  a settlement of more than $5,500.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2009, alleged that as an Edward Jones representative, she improperly recommended a highly leveraged strategy that resulted in losses. The complaint reached a settlement of $35,000.

Two other disclosures on Ms. Basey’s BrokerCheck report describe regulatory actions against her. In March 2020, FINRA sanctioned her in connection with allegations that she “falsified a customer’s signature and forged additional customers’ initials on paperwork used to facilitate her customers’ transfers of funds.” In connection with these findings, she was issued a fine of $5,000 and a two-month suspension. In February 2020, meanwhile, securities regulators in Michigan sanctioned her in connection with allegations she “engaged in dishonest or unethical behavior in the securities,” placing her on conditional registration.

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Jennifer Basey holds 19 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fort Myers, Florida, she has been a broker and an investment advisor with Stifel Nicolaus & Company since January 2020. She was previously registered with Edward Jones from 2004 until 2019. Her credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66. She holds 21 state licenses. (Information current as of September 17, 2023.)
