Ex-Laidlaw Advisor Ken Abbas Receives Equities Complaint

Ken Abbas (CRD# 5722935), a financial advisor based in Hauppage, New York, has received investor complaints alleging he recommended unsuitable investments. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker registered with Network 1 Financial Securities, having previously been registered with Laidlaw & Company.

Mr. Abbas’ BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in June 2022, alleges that as a representative of Laidlaw & Compamy, he recommended unsuitable investments in listed and over-the-counter equities from 2016 until 2018. The pending complaint alleges damages of $100,000.

An earlier investor complaint against Mr. Abbas, filed in December 2021, alleged that while at Laidlaw & Company, he engaged in unsuitable equities trading from 2017 until 2018. In April 2022 the complaint reached a settlement of $3,000. In a statement on the disclosure, Mr. Abbas wrote: “I deny any allegations and claims of wrong-doing as client was more than qualified. I will defend myself vigorously against all claims.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Ken Abbas holds 10 years of securities industry experience. Based in Hauppage, New York, he has been a broker with Network 1 Financial Securities since 2019. His past registrations include Laidlaw & Company (Melville, New York; 2016-2019), Cape Securities (Holbrook, New York; 2013-2014), C.K. Cooper & Company (Melville, New York; 2013), Cape Securities (Holbrook, New York; 2012-2013), EKN Financial Services (Melville, New York; 2010-2012), ITradeDirect.com Corp. (Farmingville, New York; 2009-2010), and Liberty Partners Financial Services (Holbrook, New York; 2009-2010). His credentials include the passage of three securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE. He holds 43 state licenses and is registered with two self-regulatory organizations (SROs), FINRA and the Nasdaq Stock Market. (Information current as of July 20, 2022.)
