Robb Herje: Northland Advisor Lands REIT Complaint

A recent investor complaint against Minneapolis financial advisor Robb Herje (CRD# 1496687) alleges that he misrepresented and recommended unsuitable real estate investment trusts. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is a broker and investment advisor with Northland Securities and Northland Asset Management, respectively.

Mr. Herje’s BrokerCheck report discloses multiple investor complaints. The most recent, filed in August 2024, alleges that as a representative of Northland Securities, he provided misleading information about unsuitable non-traded REIT investments. The pending complaint alleges unspecified damages.

An earlier investor complaint, filed in February 2022, alleged that as a representative of Northland Securities, he made unsuitable investment recommendations and over-concentrated the customer’s’ portfolio. In 2023 the complaint reached a settlement of $59,500.

A third investor complaint, filed in 2019, alleged that he recommended unsuitable direct investments. The complaint reached a settlement of $122,500.

Northland Securities’ website includes a profile of Mr. Herje that describes his background and services. “His 35 years of experience as a fixed income investment consultant make him an important ally to investors looking for high-quality fixed income investments,” it explains. “His knowledge of the region and the credit markets has helped him build strong relationships throughout the industry. He can help build portfolios that are both suitable and performance-driven.”

According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Robb Herje holds 38 years of securities industry experience. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he has been a broker and investment advisor with Northland Securities and Northland Asset Management since 2002 and 2014, respectively. His past registrations include Miller Johnson Steichen Kinnard (Minneapolis, Minnesota; 2001-2002), Miller Johnson & Kuehn (Minneapolis, Minnesota; 1986-2001), and Discount Brokerage Corporation of America (1986). His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
