Northbrook, Illinois financial advisor Sandy Schmidt (CRD# 1163559) recently received an investor complaint alleging that his conduct resulted in six-figure losses. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker with The Leaders Group and an investment advisor with Catalyst Wealth Management.
Mr. Schmidt’s BrokerCheck report discloses two investor complaints. The most recent, filed in February 2024, alleges that as a representative of Catalyst Wealth Management, he fraudulently and negligently misrepresented material facts, breached his fiduciary duty, and engaged in “unjust enrichment” in connection with a private fund. The pending complaint alleges damages of $750,000.
An earlier complaint, filed in 2009, alleged that as a representative of NFP Securities, he fraudulently misrepresented material facts regarding an investment. The complaint alleged unspecified damages and was dismissed.
Catalyst Wealth Management’s website describes the firm’s mission and services. “Catalyst Wealth Management provides goals-based independent advice and investment management services to a wide range of clients including family offices and pension plans centered around their individual time frames,” it states. “We combine market wisdom, personalized planning and structured advice to integrate all aspects of an individual’s financial life.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Sandy Schmidt holds 40 years of securities industry experience. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, he has been a broker with The Leaders Group since 2023 and an investment advisor with Catalyst Wealth Management since 2016. His past registrations include TLG Advisors, AXA Advisors, Schmidt Advisory Services, World Equity Group, NFP Securities, Nathan & Lewis Securities, Royal Alliance Associates, and NYLife Securities. His credentials include the passage of five securities industry qualifying exams: the Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Representative Examination, or Series 6; the Direct Participation Programs Representative Examination, or Series 22; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
