A recent investor complaint against Fort Lauderdale, Florida financial advisor Sean Ash (CRD# 5567379) alleges that his conduct resulted in damages. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records show that he is registered as a broker and an investment advisor with Maxim Group and Maxim Financial Advisors, respectively.
Mr. Ash’s BrokerCheck report discloses one investor complaint. Filed in June 2024, it alleges that as a representative of Maxim Group, he made unsuitable investment recommendations, misrepresented material facts, and breached his fiduciary duty in connection with a private placement investment. The pending complaint, which involves multiple claimants and notes that Mr. Brothers is not the respondent for each, alleges damages of $300,000.
Maxim Group’s website includes a profile of Mr. Ash that describes that describes his background and approach as Managing Director of the firm’s Merchant Capital Division. “Since 2008, Sean has participated in financings totaling over $1 billion,” it explains. “In addition to raising capital and building portfolios in the alternative investment space, Sean leverages his deep network of former CEOs, heads of research and biotechnology entrepreneurs to help assemble the boards and management teams that govern the group’s portfolio companies.”
According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Sean Ash holds 16 years of securities industry experience. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he has been registered as a broker with Maxim Group since 2008 and an investment advisor with Maxim Financial Advisors since 2017. His credentials include the passage of four securities industry qualifying exams: the General Securities Representative Examination, or Series 7; the Securities Industry Essentials Examination, or SIE; the Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63; and the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, or Series 65.
